A native New Yorker who completed her PhD at the University of Alberta, Dr. McDaniel has been teaching on the ��ݮ��Ƶ campus for the past five years, with immense success. Her teaching effectiveness has been enthusiastically endorsed by undergraduate and graduate students and by former students, as well as by faculty colleagues. She has received three successive nominations for the Distinguished Teacher Award. The chairman of her department, in reviewing her contributions as a teacher, has called her “a teacher of enormous talent – articulate, knowledgeable, at once intellectually demanding and sensitive to student needs, inspiring and highly effective.” Dr. McDaniel’s undergraduate courses give her by far the heaviest enrolment of any member of faculty; she is also much sought after as a graduate adviser and is rapidly achieving a solid reputation as a researcher.”I studied sociology for four years and didn’t know what it was about until I took a course with Dr. McDaniel,” one student commented.
