Getting Started in LEARN - Online (CTE6656)

Please note:ÌýThis workshop is intended forÌý¾±²Ô²õ³Ù°ù³Ü³¦³Ù´Ç°ù²õÌýthat will be using LEARN in the upcoming term.

This two-hour,Ìýonline, session will introduce instructors to LEARN (D2L Brightspace), uÀ¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ's learning management system for presenting course activities and resources in on-campus and fully online courses.ÌýBy the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Use the LEARN environment to communicate with your students via Announcements and Classlist
  • Make decisions around the most effective way to organize your course material in the Content area
  • Set up the course assessment scheme in the Grades area
  • Use provided resources to support exploring more of the tools available within LEARN on your own

Please have available for this online session:

  • Access to MS Teams (a link will be provided)
  • Access to a LEARN course (either an upcoming real course or your sandbox course - use theÌýÌýto get a LEARN site for your course)
  • Access to two or three course content items (e.g., Word doc of a course outline, Word doc of a course schedule, PowerPoint of some lectures, etc.)

Depending on time and interest during the session, we may have the opportunity to explore other LEARN tools such as discussions, dropboxes, or quizzes.

This session also includes a general overview of considerations for copyright and how to incorporate course reserves into your LEARN site.

Ìý(if this is your first time using GoSignMeUp, you will need toÌýÌýfirst).ÌýIf you have changed roles at the University (e.g., graduate student to faculty) please updateÌýyour "Participant Profile" in your GoSignMeUp account.

Cancellations

Many of our workshops haveÌýwaiting lists, so if you'veÌýregistered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
