The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ has recently undertaken a significant step forward in promoting aviation research on campus, through the purchase of a new flight simulator.

The new flight simulator will allow researchers to have priority access to a simulator, which although common technology within flight school settings — — they usually prioritize student flight training instead of research efforts.

In a normal year, information about the medical exam and how to access your flight training can sometimes be confusing for new students. With a pandemic, it adds a layer of complexity that may raise additional questions.

This webinar covers important updates to program requirements, and introduces you to key members of our Aviation community. Please note that this information is specific to students beginning their studies in September 2020 and is subject to change at anytime.

In response to COVID-19, the has moved its monthly information sessions for May and June to an online format. .

These information sessions are designed to provide potential students and their parents with information on the program design – suggestions on how to be successful in the program, the financial challenges and banking information, along with aviation industry information.

Urooji Ali, a Geography and Aviation student at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, is a recipient of the inaugural Captain Judy Cameron Scholarship. Launched by the and , winners receive $5,000 toward their studies in aviation. Prior to her time at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, Urooj joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program at the age of 12, completed the Glider Pilot Scholarship in Quebec, and became the highest-ranking and sole female cadet with a pilot’s licence.

Suzanne Kearns, an associate professor of aviation in the Faculty of Environment at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, will be receiving an Elsie award in the education category from the . The awards are selected by a judging panel comprised of aviation and aerospace industry experts and veterans. This September, Kearns will be honoured at the Elsie Awards Gala in Toronto.

First Officer Jessalyn Teed, a Geography and Aviation graduate, has been named one of . This award recognizes inspiring young leaders who are influencing the Canadian aviation and aerospace industry.

Science and Aviation student Tyler Walker has been named the 2019 finalist for Western Ontario. Since 1932, this annual competition identifies Canada’s top amateur pilot of the year.

Recently, Aviation at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ gathered to celebrate students who have completed licenses, or recieved their 'wings.' The event, held every year, is an opportunity to honour a handful of exceptional students, and handout awards and scholarships. The event was held with À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Aviation partners the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Wellington Flight Centre.
