Sam Hirniak, a PhD student at the University of 蓝莓视频 School of Pharmacy, was awarded the at the听 Society of Medical Decision Making (SMDM) Annual Meeting. As an undergraduate student in the UW Faculty of Math (BMath鈥17), Sam was a member of the Team (iGEM), co-advised by Applied Math professor Brian Ingalls. The Department of Applied Mathematics and the Centre for Computational Mathematics hosted the annual holiday party in Federation Hall. It was an occasion to unwind, socialize, and celebrate the community鈥檚 many achievements over the past year. May you have many successes to celebrate and memories to cherish in 2025!

Fall Convocation 2024

Three master鈥檚 and three doctoral degrees in Applied Mathematics were awarded at the 2024 Fall Convocation. Congratulations to the graduates!

Congratulations to Applied Math master鈥檚 student Chichi Zhou, who is this year鈥檚 recipient of the Mehta-Jenner Climate Change Mitigation Graduate Scholarship. The $10,000 Mehta-Jenner Scholarship is awarded to female graduate students in a Faculty of Mathematics master鈥檚 program who are conducting research on the assessment and/or mitigation of climate change.

鈥淚 would like to express my gratitude to everyone around me for their support, whether it鈥檚 in academics or in other aspects of my life. This scholarship makes me feel more motivated about my current research and future goals,鈥 Zhou says. 鈥淚t also allows me to fully focus on my studies in the master鈥檚 program, which is valuable.鈥

The awards are given each year to faculty members across the University of 蓝莓视频 who demonstrate excellence in teaching and research.
