Workday checklist for managers

  1. Verify your Organizational Chart.
    1. Click on the Cloud icon (top right corner) > View Profile to access your Worker Profile (left menu in blue). Click Team to view your Organizational Chart and confirm that all of your direct reports are showing reporting to you. This includes all temporary or definite term positions, casuals and students.
  2. Review outstanding vacation balances, as applicable. From the home screen, enter the name of a team member into the search bar. Select their name and then click on Time Off from the blue menu on the left. Verify the outstanding vacation balances.
  3. Set-up any business processes you would like to delegate. View the Workday user guides for managers for help on delegation or contact your HR Partner.
  4. Download the Workday application for mobile devices (optional). Install the Workday app on your device.  Enter the Company ID: uwaterloo, then log in with your WatIAM credentials.
  5. It’s also important that you touch base with any new employees you’ve hired in January, 2019 to ensure they have logged in to Workday to complete the onboarding process prior to the payroll deadline so that they can be paid on time. They should receive a prompt in their email.

Please note that as requests and transactions begin in Workday, you will start to receive Workday inbox items that will need your attention. A daily summary will be sent to your Outlook e-mail account if there are items you need to take action on.
