Women in Math (WIM) invites you to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2022, at 1 P.M. Join us forÌýrefreshments at the UW Egg fountain followed by a scenic group walk. All are welcome to join. The walk begins at 1:30 p.m.

Join us for aÌýpanel discussion focused on understanding and promotingÌýequity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in academic settings. All members of our academic communities should strive to create equitable, diverse, and inclusive environments.

In celebration of International Women in Math Day, the Women in Math Committee presents Picnic & Paint. Join us for an afternoon picnic and paint session to enjoyÌýsome refreshments, socializeÌýand engage in meaningful discussion.Ìý

Coming to the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵÌýthis fall is theÌýplayÌýTruth Values: One Girl’s Romp Through M.I.T.’s Male Math Maze, written and performed by former mathematician Gioia De Cari. She experienced first-hand the difficulties and inequities ofÌýbeing a professional woman in a male-dominated field and now uses her one-woman show toÌýprovideÌýa humorous, scathing, insightful, and ultimately uplifting look at the challenges she and many other women face in STEM fields.

Following the play, join Gioia and panellists for a discussion on Women in STEM fields, the progress that has been made, and how we can continue to push towards greater equity, diversity, and inclusion for all people. This is a free event open to the entire University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ community. All are encouraged to come see this incredible performance and engage in the conversation.Ìý

Join WiM and WiCS with UW Chess and UW Poker to celebrate International Women’s Day! Did you know only about 5% of professional poker players and 15% of Ìýall the licensed chess players are women?

Come out on March 8th from 4:00-6:00 pm to Up Your Game in poker and chess, and learn how to apply these critical strategies to your life and career.Ìý Faculty, students, staff, postdocs and other members of the university are invited to join.ÌýAll levels and genders are welcome!

Interested in learning a new mathematical concept taught by your peers? Come support students in the faculty of math by attending the DRP presentations! All students, staff, and faculty are welcome.Ìý

The presentations will be held on April 11th from 10-2:30 and April 12th from 10:30-1:30.
