Truth Values: One Girl’s Romp Through M.I.T.’s Male Math Maze

Coming to the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµÌýthis fall is theÌýplayÌýTruth Values: One Girl’s Romp Through M.I.T.’s Male Math Maze, written and performed by former mathematician Gioia De Cari. She experienced first-hand the difficulties and inequities ofÌýbeing a professional woman in a male-dominated field and now uses her one-woman show toÌýprovideÌýa humorous, scathing, insightful, and ultimately uplifting look at the challenges she and many other women face in STEM fields.

Following the play, join Gioia and panellists for a discussion on Women in STEM fields, the progress that has been made, and how we can continue to push towards greater equity, diversity, and inclusion for all people. This is a free event open to the entire University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ community. All are encouraged to come see this incredible performance and engage in the conversation.Ìý

WiM Directed Reading Program (DRP) lunch & learn

WiM Directed Reading Program (DRP) initiative aims to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to work with graduate students on a mathematical project.

Join the DRP lunch & learn to hear from groups participating in our Fall DRP talk about the progress of their projects and share the best teamwork practices they have learned.Ìý Enjoy some food and spend time with fellow classmates while learning more about the WiM Directed Reading Program (DRP).

This event is open to all students and WiM Members.

Navigating Your PhD

Join WiM for a 2-day hands-on workshop for women in math who are pursuing a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) to get better prepared for a successful completion of the program as well as receive guidance and mentorship with regards to career opportunities post-graduation! Our aim is to create a comfortable space that is conducive for healthy discussions and reflections as well as to promote interaction between peers within the Faculty of Mathematics.

Interested in learning a new mathematical concept taught by your peers? Come support students in the faculty of math by attending the DRP presentations! All students, staff, and faculty are welcome.Ìý

The presentations will be held on April 11th from 10-2:30 and April 12th from 10:30-1:30.

The presentation schedule can be viewed . Please note that lunch will only be provided for DRP participants and the WiM Committee. No registration required.
