SLICCs Team Presents at the University of 蓝莓视频's Teaching and Learning Conference

Earlier this month, two members of the Student-Led Individually Created Course (SLICC) project team, facilitated a workshop at the University of 蓝莓视频鈥檚 Teaching and Learning Conference. Aligning with the conference theme, 鈥淪parking and Sustaining Student Engagement,鈥 the workshop centered on cultivating self-directed learners for today鈥檚 rapidly changing world.

The SLICC project team highlighted the critical need for students to become self-directed learners, equipped to navigate a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment. They showcased how SLICCs empower students to co-construct, plan, implement and self-assess their learning journey with ongoing opportunities for feedback and support from instructors.

Key insights included how SLICCs promote student engagement, autonomy, and ownership of their learning 鈥 elements often lacking in traditional learning environments. The workshop effectively demonstrated how a scaffolded approach and a flexible framework for learning can foster these qualities, leading to motivated learners.
