Jocelyne Murphy

Jocelyne Murphy’s (BASc ’25, systems design engineering) extraordinary leadership and lasting impact in building inclusive communities for the next generation of builders has earned her the 2025 Pearl Sullivan Emerging Global Leaders Award, one of the Faculty of Engineering’s highest student honours.

Through her work with Socratica, a peer-led mentorship network, Murphy helped pioneer a model of low-barrier, high-impact collaboration. She also co-founded UW StartupsԻWygo, both aimed at nurturing student-led ventures and future community builders.

“Loneliness shouldn’t be the reason great people don’t do great things,” Murphy says. That ethos fuels her work, from creating collaborative spaces to mentoring founders bringing their ideas to life to calling on national tech leaders to invest in student talent.
