On July 1, 2024, the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ joined over 100 universities and colleges in adopting a smoke-free policy.
Becoming a smoke-free campus (including, tobacco,Ìýcannabis, and vaping) is part of the University’s ongoing efforts to fosterÌýa healthy and safe campus environment for all. Further, providing a smoke-free environment strengthens our commitment to theÌý, where it is our responsibility to create environments where health is embedded into campus culture and policy.
The updated policy coversÌýallÌýforms of smoking, holding lighted tobacco or cannabis, and using e-cigarettes or other vaping devices.Ìý
The smoking banÌýdoes not applyÌýtoÌýIndigenous ceremonies or traditions, or toÌýindividuals with medical accommodations.

The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ is committed to providing a healthy work and life environment for our students and employees. It is important to protect our community from unwanted and involuntary exposure to tobacco and passive smoke. Beginning on July 1, 2024, À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ will become smoke-free.
