A digital X-ray imager developed by a ݮƵ Engineering startup is being tested on cancer patients with lung nodules in a pilot study at in Kitchener.
The new technology is faster and cheaper than traditional CT scans, and has the potential to detect lung cancer earlier and with less radiation exposure.
MASc candidate Yunzhe Li’s project – “Moonlight imaging with hybrid amorphous-selenium/CMOS photodetectors” – claimed the Componentware/CAD Award, one of four decided by judges from academia and industry at the CMC Texpo 2016
