Career goal:Â Research (some of my current fields of interest include microbiology, molecular genetics, bioinformatics, neuroscience and pharmacology)
How I get involved:Â In the past, I was a part of iGEM, the UW Cancer Foundation, Students Helping Seniors, the Campus Response Team, UW UNICEF, and worked as an Ecotoxicology Technician through the work-study program. I am currently completing my undergraduate thesis in the Department of Biology, investigating antimicrobial resistance genes in wastewater using functional metagenomics.

I love my program because it allows me to explore the vast field of biology while providing the flexibility to dive into specific topics of interest. The hands-on research and numerous lab courses enhance my understanding and make learning engaging, enabling me to apply theoretical concepts in practical ways.

I chose the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ for its strong reputation and dedication to preparing students for the workforce. I was also drawn to the renowned faculty, who are respected experts in their fields. Being close to home was important to me, and I valued the extensive resources available for employment. While I initially started in co-op, I transitioned to on-campus research and am now on my way to completing the EDGE certificate.
