Kevin Shen (BCS ’24) and Rikard Saqe’s idea to apply computational modelling to understand how fish cells grow and transform, has earned them more than $700,000 in grants from the ,ÌýÌý²¹²Ô»åÌý to scale their research efforts.    

It’s 3,300 kilometres from the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ to the Caribbean’s Saba University School of Medicine but this year’s Faculty of Science Valedictorian, Justen Wilmot, BSc, Biomedical Science (medical physiology minor) is looking forward to the long trek to fulfil his dream of pursuing a career in medicine.

The Faculty of Science is proud to announce the winners of the 2023 Outstanding Performance Award. The winners span across all departments and professional schools and we are delighted to celebrate their teaching excellence. 

This week, students and faculty in the Department of Biology gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of their colleagues at the 2024 Biology Awards.

The Faculty of Science mourns the loss of Geoffrey Power, former Biology department chair and one of the department's founders. 

Professor Brian Dixon and a team of researchers have been awarded a grant of $1,598,510 as part of the InnovetAMR international funding call, jointly supported by the International Development Research Centre and UK AID.

Two co-op students from the Faculty of Science have made a big impact during a recent work term at the SickKids Research Institute. Murto Hilali and Kritika Grover are using AI as a tool to understand cerebral palsy — and their efforts have earned them recognition as contributing authors in an upcoming paper published in Nature Genetics.

The Faculty of Science is saddened to share that Anne Innis Dagg, a groundbreaking Canadian zoologist, feminist and environmentalist, passed away on April 1, 2024. She studied and worked at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ from the 1960s through 2013, pursuing a wide range of research interests.

As spine surgeons and health-care professionals gathered in the white-capped mountains of Whistler, British Columbia, for the  annual conference earlier this month,  many of them heard from  University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ student, Sarah Hardy.
