Dr. Travis Craddock aims to find new insights into our scientific understanding and potential treatments of Neuroinflammatory diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. During the latest installment of Science’s New Faculty Lecture Series, Craddock shared his research goals with alumni, students, faculty, and members of the À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ community.
Dr. Juewen Liu is a newly named Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Biosensors and Bionanotechnology. He and his team are developing DNA-based biosensors for detecting things like heavy metal ions in environmental water and lactate in blood.
Roy’s Tier 1 Canada Research Chair has just been renewed, and he’s looking forward to digging deeper into his team’s most recent discoveries, keeping À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ at the top of the quantum field.
We are pleased to recognize Dr. Jake Reder (BSc ’97, chemistry) as one of two recipients of the 2024 Faculty of Science Distinguished Alumni Award.
Dr. Dale Martin is a recipient of Brain Canada’s 2023 Future Leaders in Canadian Brain Research program, which supports emerging brain researchers working to develop cures for anything from depression to Alzheimer’s disease to brain injury.

Caroline de Lima Vargas Simoes, Harold Hodgins, and Jacqueline Caminiti are among this year’s recipients of the prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS). The Vanier CGS program awards $50,000 per year for three years to students completing their doctoral studies in social sciences and humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health.
