No one can say that Jackie Lee hasn’t been busy since graduating and her hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed: she is the 2009 recipient of the Faculty of Science’s inaugural Young Alumni Award.
Since obtaining an Honours Science degree with a minor in psychology in 2006, Jackie has owned several start-up companies. She is the founder of Jackie Lee Talent Management Inc., a recruiting company focused on helping new and recent graduates find full-time accelerated positions in technical and business fields. Jackie’s clients are found around the world in places such as À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, Toronto, London, New York, the United Kingdom, and China.
In addition, she has been working on a software start-up called My Dream Closet, which aims to fuse the different worlds of fashion and technology by an innovative online shopping experience.
As a student at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, Jackie was extremely involved in extracurricular activities. She was a student fundraiser for the Office of Development and raised an impressive $1 million. She was also a member of the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Varsity Women's Tennis Team as well as Impact Entrepreneurship Group, Canada’s fastest growing, student-run entrepreneurship organization. Jackie credits some of her success to her involvement with Impact. Joining the group she says “was one of the best things I ever did because it gave me strong networking and project management skills.â€
Though owning multiple companies keeps Jackie busy, she still finds time to volunteer in the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ community.
I am passionate about keeping students and alumni involved at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, she says.
Jackie currently serves on the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Alumni Council and the Faculty of Science Dean’s Advisory Council.
Jason Coolman, Director of Alumni Affairs at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ believes Jackie is very deserving of this recognition.
She is a very successful entrepreneur and a great mentor for students and alumni alike. I know she will continue to have a bright future ahead of her.
