
Biography
Eugene Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ and his doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Professor Kim’s research focuses on assessing structures under extreme loads and designing high-performance structural retrofits using innovative materials. He is especially interested in studying the response of structures under earthquake initiated multi-hazard scenarios, particularly earthquake-tsunami events, and using smart materials such as shape memory alloys (SMA’s) for repairing and strengthening damaged structures.
