Renisix is Renison’s Residence Student Committee, focused on creating joy, connection, and community through vibrant and meaningful events all year long. From dance parties to cozy movie nights and high-energy competitions, our events are all about bringing people together in ways that make Renison feel like home.
This year, I had the joy of leading Renisix, and looking back, I’m so proud of everything we accomplished as a team. We started the year with Wind In, our annual dance party to kick off the fall term. With music, lights, pizza, and good vibes all around, it was the perfect way to shake off the first-week nerves and jump into the semester with energy. The face painting was definitely a highlight of the evening.
October brought all the fall festivities—after College Dinner, we kept the Halloween spirit alive with trick-or-treating in the residence halls and a sweet evening of caramel apple making in the cafeteria. That same spooky season, we also organized Trick or EAT, where we went door-to-door collecting food donations for University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s food bank. It was a fun and purposeful way to give back to our community—and a reminder of the power of collective action, even in costume. Seeing kids dressed up trick or treating and having kind members of the community give us candy to go along with their donation certainly made us feel reminiscent of our childhood.
As the term picked up, we leaned into joy and movement with our first Just Dance Night, which turned out to be such a hit that we brought it back in February. There’s something about dancing (badly or brilliantly) in a room full of friends and strangers that just lifts the spirits. Of course, we had lots of snacks and Gatorade to keep everyone energized.
One of our coziest events was our annual Coffee House, where students could play instruments, sing, or just enjoy the music and snacks. Collaborating with Music Jam added an extra layer of talent and atmosphere to the night, and the open mic made space for creativity and sing-alongs.
In February, love was in the air at our Valentine’s Day Movie Night, where we watched a classic romantic comedy, made handmade valentines, and enjoyed lots of treats. Later in the term, we hosted a Wicked Movie Night—because every good student group needs at least one sing-along-worthy film screening. Screening this new release movie was a hit and it was so enjoyable to see some friends experience Broadway greatness for the first time.
One of our proudest moments this year was bringing back the Inter-College Cup for the first time since 2019. It was a blast competing against the other colleges in trivia, Mario Kart, dodgeball, and cake decorating. I’m proud to say we won the trivia round, highlighting our real strength, intelligence. The Renison spirit came through strong—and so did the friendly competition. Ending off the evening with Lip Sync performances from each college was a blast, I can’t believe we had surprise guest appearances from Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj. Whether we won or not, we definitely made memories.

In March, we returned with another Coffee House, closing out the term with music, conversation, and snacks one more time before exams took over. And finally, to wrap it all up, we went out with a bang at Wind Out, our showstopping year-end formal. With a Regency Era theme that rivaled elegance of Bridgerton, a DJ, photobooth, catered dinner, and awards, the night was magical—a fitting finale to a year filled with celebration, effort, and community.
Running Renisix this year has shown me how even the simplest events—a movie night, a caramel apple, a Just Dance competition in the DFL—can create spaces for people to connect, relax, and be themselves. It’s been a privilege to help foster those moments.
Huge thanks to every student who came to an event, danced with us, made a valentine, or cheered on a dodgeball team. And of course, thank you to Stefany Kraft and the Student Experience team for supporting our vision and helping bring these events to life. But most importantly, a huge shoutout to every Renisix member who showed up for weekly meetings, helped set up/take down events, and truly listened to me ramble about Wind Out decorations far too much. You are all superstars.
If you're someone who loves creating spaces for joy and connection, or just want to get more involved in student life at Renison, Renisix is always looking for new members. We’d love to have you join the party
