Recreation and Leisure Studies first-year course selection

Welcome to Recreation and Leisure Studies! Your firstÌýyear will provide you with foundational courses, including your first major-specific elective course in the winter term.Ìý

Please see below for detailed information about your first-year courses and course enrollment.

Fall term: September to December

You will beÌýautomatically enrolledÌýin your fiveÌýrequired courses.ÌýYou do not have to request any courses for the Fall term.

  • REC 100 - Introduction to the Study of Recreation and Leisure
  • REC 101 - Introduction to Leisure, Sport, andÌýRecreationÌýManagement
  • REC 120 - Experience Design and Delivery
  • HEALTHÌý107 - Sociology of Activity, Health, and Well-being
  • PSYCH 101 - Introductory Psychology

If you wish to take fewer courses for any reason, please contact your academic advisor to determine what plan will work best for you.ÌýYou should not drop or change any courses without talking with your academic advisor.

Before July 24, 2025

Log intoÌýQuestÌýand check your contact information. Ensure that your name, address, phone number, email address, and any other personal information is accurate. Please update any incorrect information.

On, or after July 24, 2025

  1. Log intoÌýQuest.
  2. Check your fall-term schedule. Learn how toÌýview your class schedule.
  3. If any of the above classes don't appear on your schedule, contact your academic advisor.
  4. View your tuition fees.ÌýYou’ll need to become fees arranged by August 19, 2025.

Winter term: January to April

Your winter term will be a mix of required and elective courses.ÌýYou must enroll yourself into all your winter courses through Quest in September, during theÌýCourse Selection Period.

In November, you can log into Quest to view your class schedule.ÌýCheck theÌýimportant dates for the course selection and the drop/add period dates.
