MSc student Paul Malik (started September 2016) with former postdoctoral fellow Dr. Colin Phipps (applied mathematician; now at Abbvie) and visiting scientist, Dr. Abdullah Hamadeh (applied mathematician) recently published a manuscript on methods for understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of antibody PK interindividual variability.

Malik PR, Hamadeh A, Phipps C, Edginton AN. 2017. Population PBPK modelling of trastuzumab: a framework for quantifying and predicting interindividual variability. Journal of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. In press.

PhD candidate, Alanna McEneny-King, MSc, speaks at the 61st Annual meeting of the Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research meeting in Basel, Switzerland, Feb 15-18, 2017. Her talk titled: Individual pharmacokinetic assessment - the WAPPS-Hemo Project will highlight the work that the Edginton lab is doing in conjunction with Alfonso Iorio MD (PI) at McMaster University on the Web-Accessible Population Pharmacokinetics Service - Hemophilia (https://www.wapps-hemo.org/).

Abdullah Hamadeh is a visiting researcher in applied mathematics. Dr. Hamadeh has a PhD in Control Engineering, Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge, and recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He research interests include:

Elliot Offman completes his PhD

On October 21, 2016, Elliot Offman convocated with a PhD from the University of ݮƵ School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Offman completed his PhD part-time under Dr. Andrea Edginton’s supervision. His thesis is entitled: “In-Silico Methods for De-Risking the Clinical Development of Subcutaneously Administered Therapeutic Macromolecules.”

Congratulations, Elliot!

Postdoctoral Fellow Job Posting

Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Andrea Edginton in the School of Pharmacy, University of ݮƵ. Our laboratory is active in developing model-based methods for application to clinical pharmacology. Our expertise is in physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling of small molecules and biologics for the purposes of extrapolation. We are also active in collaborative ventures with academic and industry partners.

Alanna McEneny-King, a PhD student in Dr. Andrea Edginton's lab, was recently awarded a one year Ontario Graduate Scholarship and a University of ݮƵ President's Graduate Scholarship.

Congratulations Alanna!

Paul Malik, Rx 2016 and an undergraduate student in Dr. Edginton's lab, won the 2016 Glaxo-Smith-Kline National Undergraduate Student Research Award. His poster, “Using Population PBPK Modelling to Explore Variability in Trastuzumab Pharmacokinetics” aims to define the underlying mechanisms that define monoclonal antibody interindividual variability in pharmacokinetics.

Paul was highlighted in the UW Pharmacy News. Read the article here.

Congratulations Paul!

Colin Phipps, a postdoctoral fellow in the Edginton lab, was awarded a  NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship. These Fellowships are high coveted and we congratulate him on his achievements!
