When Eve Astolfi initially came to the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, it was to study economics. She had felt like a business degree was one of the only ways to find successful employment post graduation. However, Eve soon discovered that her current academic plan was not well aligned with career goals.
Elaina Mohr, a Bachelor of Arts Student with a Major in Peace and Conflict Studies and a Minor in Religious Studies, has been selected to present at the , April 15-17, 2021. This year’s conference will take place virtually, in a fully online format, and focuses on the theme, “Beyond the Surface: Moving the Needle on Global Peace."
Like many students before him, Brandon Gascho did not start his degree enrolled in Peace and Conflict Studies. He was initially interested in becoming a therapist, and decided to take the Social Development Studies program through Renison University College.
Boushrah Fanous is currently a fourth year PACS student. When she was in high school, Boushrah had intended to enrol in a program like international development or political science. However, no program that she saw really seemed to fit what she was looking for. It was only when a high school teacher suggested that she look into the Peace and Conflict Studies program at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ that she felt like she had found something that fit. The program’s interdisciplinary nature and ability to cover a range of topics appealed from the get-go, and she’s been invested ever since.

After finishing her joint honours Peace and Conflict Studies and Legal Studies undergraduate degree, Sage Streight enrolled in a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree at the University of Ottawa. Sage appreciates the focus on Indigenous law and compassionate approach to the degree, and hopes to move into a peacework role after graduation.

In her fourth year, Mhari Reid worked for Gateway for Enterprise to Discover Innovation (GEDI). She worked first as an Engagement Specialist, and then in a later term, as an Operations and Project Coordinator.
Maddie Hemstreet, like so many other students, chose to attend the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ specifically for the co-op program. Over her time in the program, Maddie has discovered that co-op helps you to figure out the depth of your own capability and to stretch your skill set.
