International Women in Engineering Day (June 23rd)

Friday, June 25, 2021

This week, on June 23rd, was International Women in Engineering day! We celebrate all women pursuing their engineering ambitions.

Ìýis pursuing a PhD degree in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ under the supervision of Dr.Ìý.

Her research focuses on improving orthopaedic implant testing methods to better evaluate loosening at the bone-implant interface under multiaxial loading. This work has allowed for collaboration with both clinicians and manufacturing experts to design novel implants better able withstand multiaxial loading due to activities of daily living. Currently, she is working in collaboration with theÌýÌýGroup at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ to reconceptualize titanium orthopaedic implants to improve bone-ingrowth and implant fixation. Martine is funded by a doctoral level National Science and Engineering Research Council post-graduate scholarship.
