Engineering students help sweep university to curling gold

Engineering students dominatedÌýtheÌýUniversity of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ men’s curling teamÌýthat earned national goldÌýwith a 7-5 victory over the University of Alberta Golden Bears in Kamloops, B.C.

Skip Jake Walker, a fourth-year electrical engineering student, second Jordan Moreau, a management engineering student, thirdÌýEdward Cyr, a mechanical engineering master's student,Ìýand alternate Nathan Ransom, an undergraduate mechanical engineering student,Ìýand other members of the team, captured top spot in the 2013ÌýMen’s Curling Championship in a rematch of last year's finals.

With theÌýCanadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS)/Canadian Curling Association win, the Warriors secured their first-ever CIS curling title and À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ's eighth national championship in school history.

Walker posted a team high shooting percentage of 93 per cent. For his efforts, he was named OUA athlete of the week. []
