Building on their session at the Staff and Advisor Conference, the presenters will speak to the complexities when thinking about the international student experience. Our international student population comes from over 100 different countries and brings with them unique experiences and perspectives that enrich our campus community and classroom environment.

During this session, we intend to address the following questions through enriched dialogue:

1. Who are our international students? From visa status to language skills, what are the many nuances behind ‘international’?
2. How do we learn from our diverse international population?
3. What role does our campus community play in supporting international student success?

At the end of this session, participants will leave with an understanding of the varied international student experiences with the intention of supporting a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and acceptanceÌý

Join À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Centre for German Studies, the Dept of Germanic and Slavic Studies & the Goethe-Institut in partnership with the Dept of Spanish and Latin American Studies, the Dept of French Studies, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Engineering for this special presentation as part of a Global Career Booster day in celebration of International Education Week!

The afternoon will feature a Keynote by Alexandre Trudeau, renowned filmaker and storyteller. Alexandre recounts how speaking more than one langugage has enriched his life, both personally and professionally, and why he believes all students should have diverse opportunities for language learning and study abroad.

Alexandre's keynote will be followed by a panel discussion including industry professionals Sven Walker (Dale & Lessmann LLP), Narcis Tajvidi (BMW) and Antonio Ferreiro (Deloitte) along withÌýUniversity of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵÌýalumniÌýon the topic of the importance ofÌýlanguages and international experience and how the two can help to boost your career.Ìý

The Home and Abroad Photo Contest is a visualÌýdemonstration of student learning through study and work experiences,Ìýboth in Canada and abroad. Engineering is home to hundreds of international students who represent numerous countries around the globe. In addition, each year many À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Engineering students go abroad for enriching study and work experiences around the world. This online exhibition will be a collection of student photographs that will showcase the global perspective our students have gained through their travels and studies.ÌýPhotos will be posted on , and Engineering students, faculty and staff will be invited to vote on their favourite photos. The top three photos will be printed and proudly displayed in the International Office area on the 7th floor of of E7.

Engineering students are invited to contribute original photos of theirÌýown personal journeys by submitting a photo and short description using the online form. Share your views onÌýglobal citizenship, and participate in creating a global gallery.
