Four projects have been selected to receive a 2025-26 Staebler Insurance OER Fellows Grant from the Libraries. The program offers competitive grants of $5,000 each to instructors to help create or adapt an open educational resource (OER) for a UÀ¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ course. OER are critical to increasing access to education, helping to democratize knowledge and providing students affordable access to quality materials.Ìý

Interactive Learning Application for Mergers & Acquisitions and Consolidation in Advanced Financial AccountingÌý

Dr. Seda Oz, professor in the School of Accounting and Finance, is developing an interactive application to enhance financial accounting curriculum. The application will provide an engaging, gamified experience where students simulate real-world mergers and acquisitions scenarios, including due diligence, financial statement consolidation and regulatory compliance.Ìý

Learning Professional Responsibility and Ethics in Planning TextÌý

Dr. Jennifer Dean, professor in the School of Planning, is developing a text of case studies related to Professional Responsibility and Ethics (PRE), a core learning outcome and professional competency required to become a Registered Professional Planner. There is currently no text that specifically addresses PRE in the Canadian planning context.Ìý

Introduction to Health Data Science EbookÌý

Dr. Abel Torres Espin, professor in the School of Public Health Sciences, is developing an ebook that covers the basics of data science in the health context, providing working and practical knowledge that can serve as an initiation for more in-depth learning. The proposed book aims to be approachable to any health student or instructor building a data science course, independent of their initial knowledge of the topic.Ìý

Advanced Algorithm Design Textbook & Supplementary MaterialsÌý

Dr. Sepehr Assadi, professor in the Cheriton School of Computer Science, is developing a comprehensive online textbook and supplementary OER to support learning advanced algorithm design. There is a gap in modern texts, with few covering advanced concepts, presenting a significant challenge for instructors and students interested in addressing modern computational problems.ÌýÌý
