Student-led conference fosters collaboration among early-career researchers

This week, Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) students gathered for an IQC Student Summer Conference, a student-led event designed to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange and networking among early-career quantum researchers.

“I believe this is more than just a conference, it’s for building a space where people can share their knowledge and share connections with one another. It can also be a source of inspiration for people because sometimes you see and hear about people's ideas and that will be insightful to come up with ideas that can guide you through your own research.â€Â

Rafati was on the organizing committee with IQC graduate students Alec Gow, Devin Blankespoor, Jiayue Yang, Jingwen Zhu, Maria Rosa Preciado Rivas, Vyom Patel and Ziyuan Yang.Â
While IQC is a research institute primarily focused on graduate-level and postdoctoral work, it also offers some undergraduate opportunities.
Ibu Adeleke, a summer student at IQC who completed the Undergraduate School on Experimental Quantum Information Processing (USEQIP) program, says beyond the IQC Student Summer Conference, there have been many opportunities to learn about the latest developments in quantum information research.Â

“There are lots of talks where you can learn about different fields of research and the graduate students and professors are nice and lots of people to approach and ask questions.â€
