The Institute for Quantum Computing is delighted to welcome its newest faculty member, Prof. .

Miao brings a wealth of experience and expertise in spintronics — a cutting-edge field crucial to the development of powerful quantum devices.

Prior to joining IQC, Miao completed his graduate and doctoral studies at Brown University in Providence, RI, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship and research scientist position at MIT.

Miao says he is excited to join the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ at what he calls “a turning point and the most exciting time for quantum information science.”

“We are living in an era when quantum information is no longer just a fancy name — experimental implementation has already become a reality,” says Miao, a native of Shandong province, China. “It will lead to a revolution in information technology.”

Miao says he chose to join IQC because of “the close interaction between theorists and experimentalists” that happens in ��ݮ��Ƶ.

In his research at IQC, Miao hopes to bridge the gap between classical devices and new quantum technologies, which will allow us to “enjoy the best of both worlds.”
