The Kitchener-À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Symphony is proud to confirm that the orchestra will be taking part in the Ontario Scene FestivalÌýin Ottawa this spring to perform the critically acclaimed Quantum: Music at the Frontier of Science.ÌýLed by KWS Music Director Edwin Outwater, this exploration of the connection between music and science will be performed in Ottawa on May 3, 2015. TheÌýInstitute for Quantum Computing (IQC)Ìý¶Ù¾±°ù±ð³¦³Ù´Ç°ù Raymond Laflamme will host with Ann Baggley narrating.

Originally developed as part of the KWS 2011/12 Intersections Series, this exciting collaboration was developed with the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s Institute for Quantum Computing. It has since been encored a number of times, even catching the attention of the Indianapolis Symphony, who performed the program in April 2014.

The performance includes a musical program that spans well-known pieces by Mozart and WebernÌýto radical, rarely performed pieces by Xenakis, Brant, Ives and Cage. In tandem, the scientific storyline accompanied by narration and voice carries us from the "falling apples" of Newtonian physics to the amazing and counterintuitive phenomena of the quantum realm.
