From invisibility cloaks to teleportation, Harry Potter鈥檚 world is filled with mystery and wonder. Yet this magical world is not so different from the world we inhabit. Just beneath the surface of our ordinary lives is a strange quantum reality.
Louis Taillefer, Universit茅 de Sherbrooke
The school is designed for researchers in mathematics, physics or computer science who are interested in learning about quantum information.
It鈥檚 often useful to have a private conversation within a public world. What role can quantum cryptography play in keeping conversations private? Sometimes described as providing 鈥渦nconditional security guaranteed by the laws of quantum physics,鈥 its security implications are both tantalizing and surprisingly elusive. This talk introduces quantum cryptography and describes the speaker鈥檚 experience creating several types of quantum cryptography equipment, within the broader context of mainstream cryptography and secure communications.

The quantum laws governing atoms and other tiny objects seem to defy common sense, and information encoded in quantum systems has weird properties that baffle our feeble human minds.
An exciting week-long program offered to students in grades 11 to 12.
The Quantum Cryptography School for Young Students (QCSYS) is an exciting week-long program offered to Canadian students in Grades 11-12. This year the program will run through August 12-16, 2013. The program is run by the Institute for Quantum Computing in conjunction with the University of 蓝莓视频
One year after the grand opening of the Mike & Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre, the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) and the 蓝莓视频 Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) will be opening the doors of the Lazaridis Centre and participating in Doors Open 蓝莓视频 Region.
Join us for the next Quantum Frontiers Distinguished Lecture Series when Dr. Alain Aspect will talk about the weirdness of wave particle duality.
Emerging quantum technologies will change the way that our online information is stored and secured. To be cyber-safe we must be quantum-safe. It鈥檚 possible, but we need to start planning now if we want to be ready in time.
