SPHHS teams place in Canadian Evaluation Society student case competition

Two teams from À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ's School of Public Health and Health Systems beat out 18 other teams from universities across Canada and the United States to finish in second and third place at the 2014 Canadian Evaluation Society’s Student Case Competition in Ottawa.

À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ teamsÌýhave won this competition in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2008, 2012 and swept the national competition in 2013. This year's teams wereÌýcoached by ProfessorÌý´¡²Ô¾±³Ù²¹Ìý²Ñ²â±ð°ù²õÌýfromÌýSPHHS, andÌýJennifer Yessis, a scientist with the Propel Centre for Population Impact who herself was a member of the winning case competition team in 2000.Ìý

Held annually, the competition helps students build skills in evaluating public policies and programs using real examples from public sector. This year, the teams had toÌýpresent their proposals for anÌýevaluation of the Mitacs Accelerate ProgramÌýto a panel of judges and conference delegates.
