For the first time in over five years, the Royal Society of Canada | La Société royale du Canada hosted their Excellence and Engagement Symposium in the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region on November 15, 2023. The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ was proud to present the varied and interdisciplinary projects the research institutes at the University engage in.
The Games Institute (GI) was proud to demonstrate the many collaborative projects our members have worked on with institutes like the Institute for Quantum Computing and ; the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Climate Institute and ; and the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Institute for Nanotechnology and
PhD candidates Marco Moran-Ledesma (Systems Design Engineering) and Sid Heeg (Sustainability Management) gave demonstrations of their research work, with Moran-Ledesma displaying the current iteration of his interactive, 3D printed human joint and Heeg speaking on their experience with COVID-19 vaccine misinformation. Alongside them, Research Project Manager Pamela Maria Schmidt offered demonstrations with the virtual reality game , created and designed by PhD candidate Samira Mehrabi (Aging, Health, and Wellbeing) and Dr. John E. Muñoz (J&F Alliance, Adjunct).
It was wonderful see À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s fellow research institutes at the symposium including the Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology, the Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute, and the . The GI is looking forward for the opportunity to work on additional collaborative projects with them again.
