What is the app challenge?
The ECCE App Challenge is an app competition held by EsriÌýCanada to promote innovation, and creativity within the .ÌýEach year three members create an alliance and are tasked to build a powerful app using Esri technology and open data to help solve real-world problems related to a specific theme. Teams are given a week to complete their apps and provide their source code with supporting documents.
Ben, Paramvir, and Gabriel’s team The Tree-O created aÌýmobile and web application TReecorder to help plan biodiverse communities and climate-resilient forests. It is equipped with surveys and GIS workflows to bridge the gap between planners and arborists in their community forest and help the community connect with it. The mobile app allows citizens to identify and learn more about local trees near their region and submit damage reports associated with each tree.ÌýIt also helpsÌýarborists to investigate these damage sightings and allowsÌýmunicipal governments to input tree data into TReecorder.Ìý
