À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ students capture top awards at OEC

À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Engineering teams wonÌýa number of the top awards at theÌýOntario Engineering Competition hosted on campusÌýfromÌýJanuary 29 toÌý31. The 37th annualÌýcompetition attracted aboutÌý300 competitors from 16 Ontario universities and colleges as well as judges, sponsors and guests.

Second year À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ mechatronicsÌýengineeringÌýstudentsÌýColinÌýCooke, Michael Jonas, Jackson Fishe andÌýMitchellÌýCatoenÌýtookÌýfirst prize in theÌýJunior Design contest.

A team of third year mechatronics engineering students comprised of Eric Shi, Wesley Fisher, KenÌýGeertsema andÌýDanialÌýLizewskÌýplaced second in theÌýSenior Design contest.Ìý

À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ students took the top two awardsÌýin the Innovative Design challenge. First placeÌýwas awarded to fourth-year computer and electrical engineering studentsÌýNicolaÌýJiang, Ryan Gibson, AustinÌýCousineau, StuartÌýAlldritt andÌýIan Murray. Second place went to fourth year nanotechnology engineering studentsÌýEric Beauregard,ÌýWenboÌýCui, Stuart Murray andÌýLauraÌýBahlmann. Ìý

A team of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Engineering students was honoured with theÌýSpecial Award forÌýTechnical Excellence for Innovative Design.

Third year systems design engineering studentsÌýGrahamÌýBlenaey andÌýAmbikaÌýOpalÌýcame thirdÌýin theÌýParliamentary Debates competition.

All first and second place winners will advance to the Canadian Engineering Competition to be held at McGill University March 3 to 6.ÌýÌý
