Deadline to get "Fees Arranged" is approaching
The due date for students to complete their payment or Promissory Note to becomeFees Arrangedfor Spring 2018 term without a late fee isApril 24, 2018,according to a note from Student Financial Services.
Students can view their bill for Spring 2018 by logging into, going to Student Center, then clicking Finances>Account Inquiry.
There are two ways to become Fees Arranged:
- Payment of the entire Term Balance- This can take the form of a bank payment, Western Union Global Pay for Students or a certified cheque, money order or bank draft originating from a Canadian or US bank. Studentscan useto pay tuition.
- Promissory Note- Students who wish toleave a balance owing on theirstudent account equal to their approved financial aid (including funding showing as Anticipated Aid on their student account) and only pay the remaining balancemustsubmit the Promissory Note. Follow thestep-by-step instructions.
Students who are not Fees Arranged by June 30 will be unenrolled and lose access to assignments, exams and course material on LEARN. For co-op students on a recruiting term, active applications on ݮƵWorks will also be cancelled.
Students who do not submit the Promissory Note to become Fees Arranged will not have their financial aid deducted from their balance owing. "This includes all scholarships,bursaries, and awards funding," says the note from Student Financial Services."Also, your government student loan and grant funding will not be released unless you are "Fees Arranged" for the term."Spring OSAP amounts will be posted as “Anticipated Aid” on Quest and updated frequently and a Promissory Note must be completed in order to use OSAP funding to pay fees.

It’s a big world out there. Here is a non-exhaustive list of President Hamdullahpur's recent activities on and off campus and a look ahead at what's on his calendar.
President Hamdullahpur was pleased to take part in the 11thannual Staff Conference, on Thursday, April 5, by welcoming a packed Arts Lecture Hall in Hagey Hall. The speakers were outstanding and the entire conference was a wonderful professional development and networking opportunity with spectacular speakers.
The President honoured six outstanding co-op students at the Tatham Centre on Friday, April 6, for the annual Co-op Student of the Year Awards. This year’s students have shown great initiative, truly showing how our students are delivering for their employers.
On Tuesday, April 10, the President welcomed the University’s amazing educators and researchers at the President’s Reception for Excellence in Teaching and Research. More than 100 faculty and graduate students who won teaching and research awards over the past year attended the reception.
What’s next on the President’s schedule?
This comingSunday, April 22, President Hamdullahpur will be leading the start of the. The Summit will be focused on exploring and building out a framework to make strides towards reaching the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The President will be honouring our staff and faculty who are celebrating employment milestones of 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years of service onMonday, April 23at the 25-50 Year Dinner.
Wednesday, April 25the President will be at the Arts Awards Ceremony to honour those in the Faculty who have shown excellence in service, teaching and research.
Registration open for Matthews Golf Classic
Although golf might just be the last thing on everyone's mind as the ice continues to melt this week, online registration for the annual Matthews Golf Classic opened at 8:30 a.m. this morning.
The MatthewsClassic is a golf tournament held once a year in June and is open to all staff, faculty, students, retirees, alumni, contractors and invited guests. The event was established in honour of Burt Matthews, president of the University of ݮƵ from 1970 to 1981.
This year'sevent will take place at the Grand Valley Golf Course on Monday, June 18 with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.
Tickets are $70.00 for a package that includesgolf, shared cart, boxed lunch and dinner; $50.00 forgolf andshared cart as well as aboxed lunch; and $25.00 for dinner-only.

Burt's son Dave Matthews has attended the tournament named for his father for the last 10 years.
Symposium on Aging Research conference coming up
ճ(SoAR) is an interdisciplinary graduate student conference that aims to showcase aging research across all faculties at the University of ݮƵ and provide opportunities for collaborations on projects related to aging. Graduate students, aging researchers and community members with an interest in the health and well-being of older adults are invited to register for the third annual conference, which takes placeon Wednesday, April 25.
This free one-day event will include 11 podium presentations, 15 rapid-fire presentations, and 31 posters highlighting student research on aging from a wide range of disciplines across the University and beyond.
Research topics will include:
- Diversity and inclusion (LGBTQ2+, Ageism)
- Social isolation, support and engagement
- Technology and innovation
- Health care systems and services
- Exercise and mobility
- Lifespan approaches to aging
Making the keynote address is Dick Moore, co-founderof the Toronto Senior PRIDE Network, who will be sharing his knowledge on LGBTQ2+ experiences of aging. Moore is a long-time advocate for the growing community of LGBTQ2+ seniors, and has been award the Pride Award from the City of Toronto and the Ontario Seniors Achievement Award for his leadership in the field.
Lunch is included with full-day registration.
The conference runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the keynote address happening at 2:30 p.m. The conference takes place in AHS 1689 in the AHS expansion building.by Friday, April 20.
Chancellor nominations and other notable notes
There’s still time to submit your nominations forthe University of ݮƵ’s next Chancellor. The University is looking for a new chancellor to succeed Tom Jenkins, whose term comes to an end in June 2018. The Chancellor is the ceremonial head of the University of ݮƵ and awards all degrees at Convocation ceremonies every June and October. The chancellor also addresses and inspires ݮƵ’s graduands at these events.
The Chancellor Nominating Committee is seeking nominations of individuals of “outstanding calibre who will be strong champions for the University of ݮƵ, all members of the University community, and the University’s academic and research mission. The next chancellor’s term would run from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2021.
Any member of the University community, including alumni, is invited to send nominations by 4:00 p.m.on Friday, April 27 toKaren Jack, secretary to the Chancellor Nominating Committee.
The DaCapo Chamber Choir, conducted by Leonard Enns, professor emeritus at Conrad Grebel University College, continues theirRoad to Refugee series of concertswith "This Thirsty Land" on Saturday April 28 at 8:00 p.m., with special guests the Orpheus Choir of Toronto.
