Services
for
the
Chippewas
of
theÌýThames
First
Nation.
Elder
Henry
is
an
elected
bandÌýcouncilor,
Indigenous
Ceremony
conductor
(e.g.,Ìýweddings,
funerals,
healing,
naming),
traditional
medicine
practitioner,
environmental
protectionist,ÌýIndigenous
counsellor,
Pow
Wow
coordinator,
andÌýOPP
Indigenous
advisor.
Elder Henry will speak about theÌýneed to protectÌýthe environment/nature/land as part of our being, intricately connected to us, not to beÌýdominated.ÌýHe has worked with students in New Orleans’ bayous, whose people andÌýenvironment are affected by ‘environmental racism’. He is involved inÌýcommunities inÌýways that highlight the need to integrate the environment.
