If you are a visiting scholar,post-doctoral fellow, or international visitinggraduate studentat the University of ݮƵ and want to improve your English skills while you are here, you may audit English for Multilingual Speakers(EMLS) courses.

  • Աvisiting scholars,post-doctoral fellows, andinternational visitinggraduate studentsmay audit EMLS courses. All registered University of ݮƵ studentsmustenrol inEMLS courses on Quest.
  • Audit fees are $900.00 per course.

Steps to Apply

To apply to audit, follow these steps:

  1. Complete anAudit Application Form (PDF).
  2. Request approval fromEnglish Language Studies. Only two visiting scholars,post-doctoral fellows, or international visiting graduate students are permitted per section per course. ContactChrista Schuller (cschuller@uwaterloo.ca)to arrange for approval.
  3. Pay your audit fee to Renison University College (REN on the campus map). You must have English Language Studies approval before you can pay. Please see payment steps below.

Payment Steps - Canadian Bank Accounts

Please process payment via online bankingbill payment. Please note that this must be from a Canadian bank.

  1. Add Renison University College as a bill payment “payee”.
  2. Use your student ID number as the “account number”.Please be very sure that you are using the correct student ID number.
  3. Allow 2-4 business days for your payment to reach Renison University College. If you post-date your payment, we will not be able to process it until the date of the payment. Late fees may apply.

Step by Step instructions for WU®GlobalPay for Students

To complete your payment, you will need your ID number from Renison University College. When you submit an application, we will email you with anID number. If you did not receive anID number, pleasecontact cls@uwaterloo.ca

Step 1: Visit the GlobalPaywebsite

On the GlobalPay website, you will be asked to enter the payment amountand the country where your bank is located. Please emailcls@uwaterloo.caif you are unsure how much to pay.

Step 2: Choose a way to pay

GlobalPay will give you one or more options for paying your fees. Choose the option that works best for you.

Step 3: Enter the student's details

Enter the student's details, including application ID or student ID number, name, and email address.

Step 4: Enter the payer's details

Enter the information of the person who will be making the payment, including name, email address, and billing address.

Step 5: Complete your payment

GlobalPay will direct you to thewebsite of your bank tocomplete your payment. Most payments can be made online, but instructions will be provided for payments that must becompleted in-person at yourbank.
