The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ and Rogers Communications partner on advanced research for Canadian-made 5G solutions in a real-world setting

The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ has become one of the first 5G smart campuses in Canada as part of a partnership with Rogers Communications that leverages the University’s global leadership in computing, engineering and co-operative education.

Two University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ startups have been named among 10 winners of a national energy solutions competition.

Evercloak Inc. will receive funding to support a $1.2 million project to develop a dehumidification technology for air conditioners that will cut greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the energy use of cooling systems by over 50 per cent. Michael Pope, assistant professor, chemical engineering, and Evelyn Allen, corporate researcher partnerships manager, in the Office of Research co-founded the company in 2018.

More than 50 people turned out for the official opening of at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ.

Dignitaries kickstarted the event at the Autonomous Vehicle Research and Intelligence Laboratory (AVRIL) by arriving in automated electric car that is being developed by student design team WATonomous.
