The Conrad School is excited to share our students’ successes over the Spring 2022 term.

Concept $5k Pitch Competition

TAKO was one of four winners of the this term, founded by three Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) students: Tony Le, Sabrina Pehilj and Osama Siddiqui. TAKO is a B2B solution for the global seafood supply chain, taking care of the information processes which allow exporters and importers to focus on their expertise in delivering fish.

The President Braids was another winner, a venture aimed to provide quality, reliable and accessible day-long customized hair care services to people of colour across Ontario. Adanna Amechi, the founder, was a former BET 300 and Enterprise Co-op (E Co-op) student. The President Braids also won the People’s Choice Award.

Among the was another MBET team - the founders of EV123, Alex D'Alton, Andrew Smedley and Prasanna Karthik Mutharaju. EV123 is a public EV charger status verification software that audits uptime reports through crowdsourcing and gamification.

Social Impact Showcase

Seun Adetunji, a part-time MBET student, won $2,500 for her venture at .

MedInclude translates complicated medical jargon into lay terminology for patients and caregivers. This helps reduce the potential for medical miscommunication that causes errors resulting in billions of dollars and thousands of lives lost yearly. 

MBET Trade Show

We hosted our inaugural MBET trade show in June. Graduating students showcased their ventures and pitched to a panel of judges to win funds for their venture. And the winners are…

First place:��1�ѱ�Գٴǰ� – Esteban Veintimilla, $5,000

Second place: 

• Adjust Square – Nathan Koo & Farhan Magray, $2,500
• Agro CINC – Onyekachi Chisom Ezeoke-Ekweruo, $2,500 

Third place: Alpha Benefit – Madison McKimm & Justin Kieffer, $1,000

Best Display: ConnectEd – Ryon Jones & Steve Reuss, $1,000

People’s Choice: FULLCLEAR – Steven Quach, Dhruvi Patel, Danni Li & Carmen Tang, $1,000

Heartland Challenge Startup Competition

Beam Commerce won $10,000 coming in third overall at the in April.

Co-founder Dhruv Patel completed an E Co-op term last year and has continued to grow Beam Commerce with fellow co-founders Armon Shokravi, Varun Kundra and Landon Fuhr, building software to help boost sales for independent eCommerce merchants.

Dhruv and Armon performed admirably at the Investor Roundtable as well, earning one of three Cadron Capital Investor Roundtable Awards worth $3,000.

‍The Heartland Challenge, overseen by the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Arkansas, is designed to mimic the real-world process of raising capital for a high-growth venture. The competition allows students to gain valuable experience and networking opportunities, while developing and building new ventures and technologies or those developed by others.
