Fall Convocation 2013

Abbas Mehrabian
Abbas Mehrabian, a PhD student in the Combinatorics and Optimization department, has been awarded a 2013 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. This is a prestigious three-year doctoral scholarship valued at $50,000/year. Abbas is being co-supervised by Professors Nick Wormald and Joseph Cheriyan. The title of Abbas's research proposal was "The Query Complexity of Graph Property Testers in the Dense Graph Model".

received an honorary Doctor of Mathematics (DMath). He is well known for his early work on matroid connectivity and representability, and his later work on linear optimization. His software for linear optimization and mixed integer programming is widely used around the world.
