Connecting while off-campus

Install the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµÌýVirtual Private NetworkÌý(VPN) client, then follow these steps:

  1. Open the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Enter 'cn-vpn.uwaterloo.ca' as the VPN server. ClickÌýConnect.
  2. In the pop-up login window, select the 'UW-General-Campus' profile from the Group drop-down menu. Enter your WatIAM login credentials and clickÌýOK.

If you areÌýON-CAMPUS, the VPNÌýis not required. Go straight to the steps below.

These steps are designed for Windows 10. Windows 11 users can find the "Map Network Drive" option within the Windows File Explorer app. First, select "This PC". Then, the "Map Network Drive" option is accessible through the "see more" option at the top menu of File Explorer. After selecting "Map Network Drive", proceed to step 3.

1. Click on theÌýStartÌýbutton, then clickÌýThis PC.

2. ClickÌýComputerÌýtab andÌýMap network drive.

3. In theÌýDriveÌýlist, select the drive letter you would like to use for the network folder.

4. In theÌýFolderÌýbox, typeÌý\\server_name.uwaterloo.ca\folder_name.

5. CheckÌýReconnect at sign-in.

6. CheckÌýConnect using different credentials.

7. ClickÌýFinish, you should now see this drive letter underÌýThis PC.

8. A box may appear asking for a username and password. Enter inÌýdomain\user_nameÌýand the password(the domain is typically 'Civil' or 'Nexus').
