I am an associate professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management (GEM) at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ. My research seeks to understand how governments, citizens, and private companies share information through geospatial technology, including open data, the geoweb, social media, mobile devices, and the process of crowdsourcing.
MSc in Building and Urban Design in Development. Before starting my PhD I worked as an urban planner and podcast producer. My research focus on invisibilities in the development of urban AI and the creative use of geoinformation technology by grassroots.
I graduated with a BA from UBC in Human Geography and a Minor in Urban Planning, specializing in GIS and Indigenous studies. I currently work for the Government of Canada creating fiscal policy and data projections for Self-Governing Indigenous Communities. My current MSc research focuses on geospatial data gaps in the federal government and its implications on targeted policies.
I have a bachelors of environmental studies in Planning with a specialization in GIS and land management. My research focus is on how government Open Data is being used by different organizations in their operations. Outside of my research, I like to spend my time playing board games, going to concerts, and urban exploration.Â
