Overview
Our research focuses on executive functions during development. Some of our studies have examined:
- how childhood adversity impacts the development of executive function abilities
- whether executive function challenges increase risk for mental-health problems and engagement in health-risk behaviours
- how different emotional experiences influence one's ability to effectively use their executive function abilities in day-today life
- whether executive function abilities can be trained-up or supported through intervention programs
Our studies use complimentary research designs and methods with undergraduate volunteers at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, children and youth recruited from our community, and professionals who practice within Ontario and across Canada. We also use large datasets that are maintained in Canada and the US.
