Inter University Transit System (IUTS)

The Inter University Transit System (IUTS) is primarily an Inter Library Loan (ILL) book service, operated under the authority of the Council of Ontario Universities.Ìý Books are moved between specific Ontario universities and other specific government/university affiliated organizations, on a daily basis (Monday – Friday).Ìý The service also allows for the movement of mail between IUTS partners.Ìý Mail for York University and University of Toronto are on a twice a week shipping schedule (Tuesday and Thursday), rather than daily.

All are next day delivery with the exceptions of the Northern Universities such as Algoma, Lakehead, Laurentian and Nipissing which are 2 day delivery.

IUTS items received at University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ are sorted by Central Stores at the East Campus Hall (ECH) facility and injected into the scheduled mail and freight delivery process, daily.

IUTS items shipped from the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ are initially picked up on campus by Central Stores (through scheduled mail and freight pickup processes), sorted and then consolidated, by destination location, daily.Ìý

Note:

  1. IUTS is only for Ontario.
  2. Biological materials and biological specimens cannot go IUTS.Ìý They must be shipped via courier through 2ship.
