Dr. Parsin Haji Reza, a systems design engineering professor, received the Ontario Professional Engineering Awards' (OPEA) Engineering Medal for Entrepreneurship for turning his research into a successful venture through innovation and business leadership. He will be formally honoured at the OPEA's awards gala in November.
鈥淭his award represents the collective effort of an exceptional team committed to transforming groundbreaking scientific discoveries into impactful technologies that significantly enhance patient care and outcomes,鈥 said Reza.
Haji Reza鈥檚 work focuses on photoacoustic imaging, a technology that combines light and sound to visualize tissue structures in real time. His startup, illumiSonics Inc., is advancing the commercial application of this research with the potential to improve surgical outcomes and reduce cancer recurrence.
