Transfer students

Students who are interested in transferring into the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Programs (MASc or PhD) must complete and submit the BME Grad Transfer Application webform by the following deadlines:

  • Fall – September 15
  • Winter – December 1
  • Spring – May 15

Prior to submitting an application, it is your responsibility to review and be aware of the degree requirements stated on the Graduate Studies Academic Calendar. If your transfer is successful, you will be required to complete all degree requirements stated on the Graduate Studies Academic Calendar.

Your supervisor must be a BME Graduate Faculty Member. If your supervisor is not in the Faculty of Engineering, you must have a co-supervisor who is in the Faculty of Engineering. Both MASc and PhD students are required to have an examination committee. The examination committee requirements are listed on the degree requirements webpage.Ìý

When completing the BME Grad Transfer Application webform, you will be required to upload your unofficial transcript(s) and a copy of your CV. If you are requesting to transfer to the MASc program, this includes your bachelor’s transcript and current master’s transcript. If you are requesting to transfer to the PhD program, this includes your bachelor’s transcript, master’s transcript, and current PhD transcript.

You will also be asked to provide a maximum 500-word description of your research. Your research must relate to the following definition of Biomedical Engineering Research:

Biomedical Engineering Research is an interdisciplinary field of research that applies principles from engineering, science, mathematics, and computer science to solve complex problems in medicine and biology for healthcare purposes. The aim is to develop knowledge, technologies and methodologies that may improve the prevention, diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of diseases, as well as enhance the quality of life for individuals with various medical conditions.

You will be contacted by the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Office whether your application is approved or denied. Allow 10-15 business days for a decision to be made. If your application is approved, you will be asked to complete the Program/Plan Change form by the submission deadline on this webpage.
