Solidago bicolor L. is an eastern North American species that has white ray florets. The species is similar to S. hispidaÌý±¹²¹°ù.Ìýhispida, which has been treated as S. bicolorÌý±¹²¹°ù.Ìýconcolor. I have observed the two species growing intermixed at several locations but have never encountered a hybrid between the two species. The species is diploid (2n=18) throughout its range (Semple 2022).

Semple (2016) documented a S. bicolorÌý×ÌýS. bartramiana (syn, S. brendae) hybrid from Cape Breton Nova Scotia. In the polygenomic phylogeny of Solidago (Semple et al. 2023), S. bicolor was sister to the S. hispida complex which together were nested in the middle of the sect. Erectae clade.
