Solidago hispida var. huronensis

Huron Goldenrod

Solidago hispidaÌý±¹²¹°ù.Ìýhuronensis Semple is native to the dunes of Lake Huron, further north along the shore of Lake Superior and in scattered sandy soils further east in Ontario.  It is a nearly glabrous plant.  Intermediates with some hairs occur along the margins of dunes into the habitats of var. hispida.  The variety is diploid (2n=18).  It can be similar to S. gillmanii but lacks the resinous vegetation and phyllaries of that tetraploid (2n=36) species.
