Guirado’s goldenrod
Solidago guiradonis A. Gray is a rare species found only in asbestos-laden soils near streams in the vicinity of San Carlos and San Benito peaks, San Benito and Fresno counties, California. It is similar to the closely related S. confinis but has much narrower leaves and smaller cypselae (). Its range of distribution is shown on the map with S. confinis. The species is diploid (2n=18).

It would have been more helpful to see this sign before looking for plants, rather than at the end of the day!
