Blue-stem or Woodland or Wreath Goldenrod, verge d’or bleuâtre
Solidago caesia L. is a common woodland goldenrod in eastern North America. The stems are usually bluish to purple, glaucous and arching and the heads occur in small clustered subtended by large upper stem leaves (). The species is diploid (2n=18) throughout its range (Cook & Semple 2008).

Two varieties were recognized in FNA based on work by R.E. Cook (Cook & Semple 2008; Cook et al. 2009). Further research indicates that var. zedia should be treated as a separate species.
