A Basic Introduction

Student Access

All undergraduate students at the University of 蓝莓视频 have an Office 365 account including access to:听

Mail (Outlook),听

Word, PowerPoint,听and听Excel,听

Additionally,听there is access to 5TB of OneDrive storage.听Students can install Office 2016听(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Skype for Business, OneDrive for Business)听for free on听up to 5听devices听or use the听web versions of all Office听applications.听Undergraduate students will have access to Office 365 throughout their time at the University of 蓝莓视频 and for 16 months after their last registered term. Students听will receive an expiration email 30 days prior to the expiration as warning.听听

To access your Office 365 account,听go to听听and enter your听u蓝莓视频听email address (userid@edu.uwaterloo.ca) and your听WatIAM听password. If you have trouble logging in go to听听and reset your password.听

Let鈥檚 look at some of the most useful Office 365 applications:听

OneNote

Acts as a digital notebook听and great organizational tool听that syncs across all your devices.听
It鈥檚 organized into sections (which can act as separate folders for different courses) and听pages听(to keep track of different classes within a course).听
You can type, write (and convert to text), draw, speak, and copy links and videos into OneNote to fit your note taking style [].

Outlook,听颁补濒别苍诲补谤,听& Tasks听听

In Outlook听you can check your听u蓝莓视频听email (userid@edu.uwaterloo.ca).听
Outlook is also tied to your听Calendar听and听Tasks听which makes it easy to share your schedule with classmates听and keep on top of due dates and commitments.听

Word,听PowerPoint, &听Excel听听

There is a web based version of all three core Office applications available online听through听the Office 365 portal or you can download the applications and edit documents, presentations and spreadsheets there.听

Microsoft describes听Sway as a 鈥榬e-imagination of how to create and share interactive reports, personal stories, presentations and more鈥�.听
You can create reports, presentations, newsletters, and stories in it that are more interactive than your average presentation听[闭.听

An online cloud storage system (5TB available to听u蓝莓视频听students)听for your pictures and files.听
Use the OneDrive for Business client to keep a local copy of your files in sync with your cloud storage听[闭.听

A听collaborative web platform听听that makes it easier for groups to coordinate with one another. Files and pictures can be added to a mutual SharePoint听site听to organize information and have it readily accessible for the whole group.听[闭听

Allows听you听to听create quizzes, surveys, questionnaires, and registrations.听
Easy way to quiz yourself, study with friends, and gather data for classes.听[闭听

Additional Office Features听

Smart Lookup:听You can use Smart Lookup with Office 2016, which uses Bing to look up definitions, articles, and top searches on the web. The Smart Lookup can be found under the Review tab.听[6闭听听

Ink Equations: As well as being able to annotate documents, in the new Office 2016 provided by Office 365, you can convert drawings into shape, and you can in addition to writing out equations draw them out using your mouse or a touchpad听[] [闭.听

Tell Me: Instead of searching for features, in the tell me box you can type what you are looking for in the Tell me what you want to do鈥� box such as insert a picture, and the application will pull up the corresponding option听[闭.听
