Brenda Reid鈥檚 community quilt tells the story of how 蓝莓视频 Region's residents coped with the pandemic when it first began.
Called 鈥淔rom Behind the Mask鈥, each block in this quilt was made by someone in the community using fabric scraps, glue, paint and other tools. The finished product features fabric blocks in the shape of a rectangular face mask with ties to bind them all together into a work of art almost eight metres long.聽
Each block tells a different story: Images of people in masks; depictions of virtual school; and shopping online. Some are tragic, such as one with a patchwork house and the words 鈥淚 miss seeing my family,鈥 and another that reads 鈥渃onstant anxiety.鈥
鈥淲e have faced tremendous loss, tremendous resilience, and a tremendous sense of community鈥, Reid said.
It will be on display again April 1 to 10 at the Three Sisters Cultural Centre, 1370 King St. N., in St. Jacobs as the centerpiece of the exhibit. Admission is free.
